Beetroot Lassi | Beetroot Recipes | Healthy Beverage

beetroot lassi beetroot recipes
Do you want to make your beverage more healthy by adding some beautiful pink to it....if your answer is yes then try my Beetroot Lassi. I am not fond of eating beets raw, so i just choose options to have it in different form like Beetroot fritters/Pakoda or like Beetroot Dosa or in Juice or in Chutney form. I loved the way my lassi turned out, it was yum...it's healthy but the downside of it is we get cooked beetroot smell which i have covered up by adding some Rose syrup to it.
Even if you don't like beets have it, it's healthy...Beetroot is low in fat and is full of vitamins and minerals and are packed with antioxidants. The fiber in beets increases the antioxidant enzymes and increase the white blood cells.

Few things will come and will last for the rest of life.Persimmon is one such thing, I tasted Persimmon/Sharon fruit for the first time at my friends place in UK and i became big fan of it. When i took the first bite it tasted me flavours of 2 or 3 fruits, it was super delicious. And from then on it became common fruit at home specially in winter.Persimmon is a seasonal fruit and found plenty in winter and we love to have this as it is just like an apple.
Even though we love to have it as a whole fruit but sometimes adding few things makes it more healthier, so here comes a Persimmon Lassi which has goodness of fruit and yogurt which is a healthier filling beverage which can be taken as breakfast or after a meal to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Bit of Persimmon/Sharon Fruit (Info from Internet)
Sharon fruit is a native Chinese fruit. It is a deep orange, waxy fruit of which the shape is similar to a tomato. The flesh is orange coloured, has a sweet flavour and when firm possesses an apple-like crunch. The fruit contains no seeds.
Persimmons are high in beta carotine and minerals such as sodium, magnesium, calcium and iron, and studies have found that they also contain twice as much dietary fibre per 100g as apples, plus more of the phenolic compounds thought to ward off heart disease.

Mint Ginger Chaach

Hurry spring has started officially, days are bigger with sunny intervals and temperature has raised. So no more layer clothing. When i was peeking outside the window today i could find the spring birds in the park, i known they are getting back home from their winter holidays :) .

Coming back to today's recipe Chaach is a another version of salted lassi, where the consistency of chaach is not as thick as lassi. I mean there is more water content compared to lassi. Lassi/chaach is most common beverage in indian household and taken at any time of the day. Both Chaach and lassi are the best coolants in hot summer days.
Original chaach is a combination of salt, yogurt and water but the touch of ginger and mint makes a huge difference.

Level: Easy
Prep time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 0 mins

Makes : 2 glasses

Ingredients
Yogurt - 1 cup
Chilled Water - 1 cup
Cumin Powder (zeera) - 1/8th teaspoon
Mint leaves - 5 in number (to taste)
Black salt (kala namak)  - 1/4th teaspoon (optional)
Salt - to taste
Ginger - 1/4 inch length
Crushed ice (optional)

Directions
  • Blend all ingredients except ice and strain the liquid into the serving glasses
  • Add crushed ice and serve.

      Tips

      • Instead of ginger root, you can add ginger powder (1/4th teaspoon).
      • If you are not fond of mint or ginger taste then simply skip then it will be basic chaach.
